4 Shepherds, 1 Dalrymple, 3 Yorkshire Peaks, £300 to raise!
I felt to compelled to write this after just (almost literally) coming down from a very wet and windy Whernside (2,415 feet, and the highest mountain in Yorkshire, fact fans) as part of our preparation for the Yorkshire Three Peaks on 9th July.
For those who don’t know, the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge is a ‘very demanding but rewarding‘ 25 mile circular walk which just happens to have the summits of Pen-y-ghent (694 metres – 2,276 feet), Whernside (736 metres – 2,415 feet) and Ingleborough (723 metres 2,372 feet) in the way. We’re aiming to do it in about 10 hours or so and we’re hoping to raise a bit of money for MacMillan along the way.
Today was our first attempt at one of the peaks to attempt a bit of training. The verdict? Very wet, very windy, and very tiring. A bit of a reality check when I think we have to do 3 of those on the trot. Oh, and my jecket isn’t as waterproof as I thought…
I think therefore that you should definitely donate. Go on, just a tenner, you know you want to. If we get enough I’ll even do my infamous ‘Japanese Tourist’ photo pose on the summit of each… DONATE NOW!
